APPENDIX TO STATEMENT OF FAITH
THE 13 PRINCIPLES OF A MESSIANIC BELIEVER
PRINCIPLE NO. 6
I believe I am saved through faith in Yeshua HaMashiach and reborn through immersion of the Holy Spirit. I believe that mikvah or immersion in water should be observed as commanded in the Scriptures, by all who have really repented and in their hearts they have truly believed on Yeshua as Savior and Lord. The mikvah is an outward symbol of cleansing, while the heart has been sprinkled with the blood of Yeshua as an inner cleansing; thus declaring Yeshua to the world, being reborn to walk into the newness of life. With this supernatural rebirth, I am made alive spiritually, able to enter the heavenly realm. And I am made able to see and hear things of divine nature and to seek the things of precious and eternal value. This evidence of my salvation is the direct witness of the Holy Spirit within me. The outward evidence of my rebirth to everyone else is a radical transformation to a life of holiness and righteousness. With the immersion in Spirit and fire comes the endowment of power for a life of service, the bestowment of the Gifts and their uses in the world of the ministry.
BIBLE REFERENCES:
John 3:5
Yeshua answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of YHVH unless they are born of water and the Spirit.”
Acts 10:44-48
While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising YHVH. Then Peter said, “Surely no one can stand in the way of their being immersed with water. They have received the Holy Spirit just as we have.” So he ordered that they be immersed in the name of Yeshua HaMashiach.
Romans 6:2-4
(The purpose of immersion: Dead to Sin, Alive in Messiah)
We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? Or don’t you know that all of us who were immersed into Yeshua HaMashiach were immersed into his death? We were therefore buried with him through immersion into death in order that, just as Messiah was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Acts 20:21
I have declared to both Jews and Gentiles that they must turn to YHVH in repentance and have faith in our Adonai Yeshua.
Hebrews 10:22
let us draw near to YHVH with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Acts 11:14-17
He (Simon Peter) will bring you a message through which you and all your household will be saved. As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Then I remembered what YHVH had said: John immersed with water, but you will be immersed with the Holy Spirit. So if YHVH gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Adonai Yeshua HaMashiach, who was I to think that I could stand in His way?”
Acts 15:7-9
Brothers, you know that some time ago YHVH made a choice among you that the Gentiles might hear from my lips the message of the gospel and believe. YHVH, who knows the heart, showed that he accepted them by giving the Holy Spirit to them, just as he did to us. He did not discriminate between us and them, for he purified their hearts by faith.
Luke 24:49
I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high.
1 Corinthians 12:1-31 (Whole chapter)
The Use of Spiritual Gifts
Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware. You know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to the mute idols, however you were led. Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of YHVH says, “Yeshua is accursed”; and no one can say, “Yeshua is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.
Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same YHVH who works all things in all persons. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, and to another the effecting of miracles, and to another prophecy, and to another the distinguishing of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues. But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually just as He wills.
For even as the body is one and yet has many members, and all the members of the body, though they are many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Gentiles, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.
For the body is not one member, but many. If the foot says, “Because I am not a hand, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. And if the ear says, “Because I am not an eye, I am not a part of the body,” it is not for this reason any the less a part of the body. If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But now YHVH has placed the members, each one of them, in the body, just as He desired. If they were all one member, where would the body be? But now there are many members, but one body. And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; or again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” On the contrary, it is much truer that the members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary; and those members of the body which we deem less honorable, on these we bestow more abundant honor, and our less presentable members become much more presentable, whereas our more presentable members have no need of it. But YHVH has so composed the body, giving more abundant honor to that member which lacked, so that there may be no division in the body, but that the members may have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
Now you are Messiah’s body, and individually members of it. And YHVH has appointed in the assembly, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, helps, administrations, various kinds of tongues. All are not apostles, are they? All are not prophets, are they? All are not teachers, are they? All are not workers of miracles, are they? All do not have gifts of healing, do they? All do not speak with tongues, do they? All do not interpret, do they? But earnestly desire the greater gifts.
