THE TWO COMINGS OF YESHUA

APPENDIX TO STATEMENT OF FAITH
THE 13 PRINCIPLES OF A MESSIANIC BELIEVER
PRINCIPLE NO. 10

I believe Yeshua HaMashiach came the first time about 2,000 years ago as "Messiah Ben Joseph," to become the suffering servant depicted by the prophet Isaiah (52-53), to die for our sins as our sacrificial Lamb, once and for all, as was foreshadowed in the pattern of the Tabernacle and festival of Passover.  He is now interceding for us as our High Priest in the order of Melchizedek.  I believe He will return a second time to set up his glorious kingdom and rule the world as the Prince of Peace, as the King of Kings, as "Messiah Ben David.”

BIBLE REFERENCES:

Isaiah 52-53
The Rabbis and the wise men of ancient times wrote about two redeemers: One was named “Messiah Ben Joseph,” whose role was that of a suffering servant and another one named “Messiah Ben David,” a future king who will rule the world in peace.  The latter is well known among Jews, but many don’t recognize or understand the role of the Messiah as the suffering servant. Yeshua did not come the first time to take over as a King, but to die for our sins and live again that we might trust in Him and his promises of eternal life. There is a proper and perfect order to YHVH’s plan of redemption.

“Messiah Ben Joseph” is a fitting term because of the amazing connection between the lives of both Joseph and Yeshua. It is depicted in the pattern of their lives. Here are a few examples: Like Joseph, Yeshua’s birth was the direct intervention of YHVH. Joseph’s mother, Rachel had a hard time conceiving.  Both Joseph and Yeshua were both “beloved of the father.” Jacob loved Joseph more than his other sons. YHVH loved his Son Yeshua in a unique way. Joseph was a shepherd, Yeshua is called the “Good Shepherd.”  Joseph was anointed by his father with a coat of many colors, and Yeshua was anointed as Messiah Ben David.  Joseph saved the many people and his own family during a worldwide famine.  Yeshua is the savior of the world.  Joseph’s brothers envied and hated him and didn’t recognize him with his Egyptian dress.  Yeshua was envied and hated by the Jewish religious authorities and today the majority of Jews don’t recognize him as the Messiah because he is often depicted as a Gentile.  Joseph’s brothers conspired to have him killed, the chief priests conferred together to plan the death of Yeshua. Like Joseph, Yeshua’s brothers, his own Jewish people, don’t believe Him.  Both Joseph and Yeshua were cast into a pit.  Joseph’s brother Judah suggested the idea to have Joseph’s sold as a slave instead of killing him, thereby saving his life.  Yeshua is of the tribe of Judah, was sold for 30 pieces of silver and became the Redeemer. Joseph became a slave and a prisoner before he was exalted as a second in command to Pharaoh.  Yeshua took on the role of the suffering servant before he ascended to become exalted. There are many more parallel between Joseph and Yeshua, all together there are about 60 similar details in both lives.  Such possibilities for parallel lives are extremely rare, which make it obvious that all this is part of YHVH’s plan of redemption.

Zechariah 9:9
(The Coming King of Zion)
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!  Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he,
humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.

Isaiah 52:13-15
Behold, my servant shall act wisely,
    he shall be high and lifted up, and shall be exalted.
As many were astonished at you,
    his appearance was so marred, beyond human semblance,
    and his form beyond that of the children of mankind—
so shall he sprinkle many nations.
    Kings shall shut their mouths because of him,
for that which has not been told them they see,
    and that which they have not heard they understand.

Isaiah 53:5
But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:12
Therefore I will divide him a portion with the many,
    and he shall divide the spoil with the strong,
because he poured out his soul to death
    and was numbered with the transgressors;
yet he bore the sin of many,
    and makes intercession for the transgressors.

Psalm 22:1
Eli, Eli, why have you forsaken me?
    Why are you so far from saving me, from the words of my groaning?

Psalm 22:14-18,
I am poured out like water,
    and all my bones are out of joint;
    my heart is like wax;
    it is melted within my breast;
my strength is dried up like a potsherd,
    and my tongue sticks to my jaws;
    you lay me in the dust of death.
For dogs encompass me;
    a company of evildoers encircles me;
    they have pierced my hands and feet.
I can count all my bones—
    they stare and gloat over me;
they divide my garments among them,
    and for my clothing they cast lots.

Psalm 22:24
For he has not despised or abhorred
    the affliction of the afflicted,
and he has not hidden his face from him,
    but has heard, when he cried to him.

Psalm 22:26-31
The afflicted[d] shall eat and be satisfied;
    those who seek him shall praise YHVH!
    May your hearts live forever!
All the ends of the earth shall remember
    and turn to YHVH,
    and all the families of the nations
    shall worship before you.
For kingship belongs to YHVH,
    and he rules over the nations.
All the prosperous of the earth eat and worship;
    before him shall bow all who go down to the dust,
    even the one who could not keep himself alive.
Posterity shall serve him;
    it shall be told of YHVH to the coming generation;
they shall come and proclaim his righteousness
    to a people yet unborn, that he has done it.

Daniel 7:13 The Son of Man Is Given Dominion
“I saw in the night visions,
    and behold, with the clouds of heaven
    there came one like a son of man,
    and he came to the Ancient of Days
    and was presented before him.
